Expanding Ayesh Hospital: A Life-Saving Initiative for Children with Congenital Heart Diseases

About the Hospital:

Ayesh Hospital was established in 2015 in Dakahlia Governorate as the first hospital in Egypt specialized in pediatric congenital heart surgeries. It operates under the principle of sustainability to provide high-quality medical care.

• Achievements: Since its opening, the hospital has successfully treated 1,500 congenital heart cases, including complex and high-risk conditions, achieving success rates that surpass global standards.
• Financial Sustainability: The hospital has been self-funded without relying on external donations, ensuring its independence and continuity.

Importance of the Expansion:

• Annually, around 15,000 children are born in Egypt with congenital heart defects. However, the current capacity of specialized hospitals accommodates only 7,000 surgeries per year, leaving over 8,000 children untreated, resulting in increasing mortality rates.
• Expanding Ayesh Hospital will double the number of annual surgeries from 400 to 2,000, alleviating pressure on the healthcare system and providing sustainable solutions for these critical cases.

Expansion Project:

A 20,000-square-meter plot of land has been allocated in the 10th of Ramadan City to establish a new branch of the hospital, which will include:

• 155 beds, 60% of which are dedicated to intensive care.
• 3 advanced operating rooms, including a hybrid operating room equipped with cutting-edge medical technologies.
• A comprehensive imaging center featuring advanced equipment such as MRI and CT scans.
• A scientific research and training center to support medical innovation and specialized physician training.

Funding Plan:

• Phase 1 ($3 million): Excavation, foundations, and primary structural work.
• Phase 2 ($3.5 million): Completion of construction and essential finishes.
• Phase 3 ($11 million): Full hospital outfitting, including advanced medical equipment and exterior facades.
